  1. Good job Sophia, your brochure is very interesting and informative, but it not overwhelming for the target population. I believe if people wait until adulthood to learn healthy eating habits it will make it harder for them to regularly incorporate these habits into their lives. Thus, I think it is necessary to learn eating healthy habits as a child because it would help children to maintain those habits well into adulthood. In addition, this healthy lifestyle can help a child live a life that is more likely to be free from obesity and chronic health problems such as diabetes, heart disease and asthma. I think the best way that parents can use to teach their kids to eat healthy is to be a good example themselves. Children learn based on what they see those important to them doing. Therefore, parents must role model healthy behaviors such as eating healthy meals at home with the kids every day. According to KidsHealth.org, children who eat meals with their family are more likely to eat fruits, vegetables and grains.

  2. Hi Sophia,
Great job on your brochure. It was well organized, flowed well and informative. You didn't use too many words and kept the information concise and to the point. You also didn't overwhelm with too many images. I like that your brochure is clean and simple, which is how I think our eating habits should be. When teaching children I don't feel that we need talk about the specifics like calorie intake, how many fat grams to eat or counting carbohydrates. I think it's best to use something like the Plate Method. Use your plate to guide your food choices and meal planning.

  3. HI Sophia,
I really like tha layout of your brochure and inserting the "my plate" guide works really well to bring attention to its use. Before children can be expected to use it, parents need to be aware of it and be models of its use for children. I like the headings you used of "Why we should teach children eat healthy" and the "Current state of child nutrition." You gave some great information about why child nutrition is important as well as some things that parents can easily incorporate in meals. Great job!

  4. Sophia,

This is a brochure that should be sent to every elementary school and instilling good eating habits into kids so they learn at a young age how they should eat and have already developed good eating habits. Having points to why we should teach our children now is a great part of the brochure. Nice work.

  5. Sophia,

I like that you kept the information simple and provided great learning guides for how teachers can incorporate this into lessons from the resources provided. I know kids aren't getting the proper nutrition they need and more schools should focus on educating them instead of trying to control it through the food they provide. I'd rather children learn how to eat well and what that means instead of eat differently at school than they may eat at home. Great brochure!
